Dental Checkups & Cleanings

The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends that children visit the dentist every six months after they turn one year old, or by the time their first tooth erupts, whichever happens first. During these visits, Dr. Lydia will examine your child’s smile for any signs of dental concerns, conduct an oral cancer screening, and capture X-rays. If your child is old enough and comfortable, we will also complete a thorough professional cleaning to remove any plaque and tartar accumulation from the surface of their teeth.
Fluoride Treatment

Today, more than ever, making sure your child is receiving adequate amounts of fluoride is incredibly important. We offer both preventive fluoride treatment as well as silver diamine fluoride to help protect and preserve your child’s smile. Preventive fluoride treatment aims to keep decay from developing by strengthening the outermost protective layer of your child’s teeth, called the enamel. We can apply this at the end of their routine cleaning.
If your child is showing the early signs of decay, we also offer silver diamine fluoride. This treatment is completely non-invasive and can arrest cavities as well as protect against them in the future. All our team needs to do is brush a dollop of the liquid over your child’s affected tooth. It’s completely painless and can eliminate the need for other treatments like a filling!
Dental Sealants

Dental sealants help protect your child’s molars from the build-up of harmful plaque, tartar, and food debris, helping drastically minimize their risk of developing cavities. The treatment is completely painless and fast; all the process requires is our team brushing a clear liquid, which we’ll cure, over the surface of their molars. Once hardened, they’ll act as an umbrella-like protective covering to keep debris from collecting in the pits and crevices of the teeth.
Non-Nutritive Habits

Non-nutritive habits include prolonged (past the age of three or four) thumb and pacifier-sucking, and they can alter the development of your child’s bite and dental alignment when left unchecked. The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry advises taking the steps to help your child wean off of these self-soothing habits by the age of three. Dr. Lydia can help make this happen by providing you with guidance and tips to allow your child to continue comforting themselves without the harmful impact on their dental health.
Athletic Mouthguards & Sportsguards

If your child plays in a local sports league or on their school’s athletics team, consider investing in a customized mouthguard. It’s estimated that over 3.5 million sports-related injuries happen every year, with many of those being dental injuries. By investing in a customized sportsguard for your child, you can enjoy watching them jump, run, and tackle without the lingering anxiety of an unexpected visit to the emergency dental office.
Lip & Tongue-Tie Treatment

If your child has difficulty nursing, speech impediments, or food aversion, they may be suffering from a lip or tongue-tie. Dr. Lydia offers safe and comfortable frenectomies to help your child regain complete functionality of their mouth, reducing their chances of future dental and overall health concerns, including sleep-breathing disorders.
